Hubert Davis is a former professional basketball player and current head coach of the men's basketball team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Davis was born in New York City and played college basketball at UNC under legendary coach Dean Smith. After college, Davis was selected by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 1992 NBA draft and played in the NBA for 12 seasons. He played for the Knicks, the Toronto Raptors, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Detroit Pistons during his career, and was known for his three-point shooting ability. Davis retired from playing in 2004 and began a career in broadcasting, working as a commentator for ESPN and serving as an analyst for UNC basketball games. In 2021, Davis was hired as the head coach of the UNC men's basketball team.
