Billy Thompson is a retired basketball player who played for the Golden State Warriors in the 1986-87 NBA season. He played college basketball at the University of Louisville and was part of the team that won the NCAA championship in 1980. Thompson was a 6'7" forward who was known for his athleticism and defense. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the 1982 NBA draft but chose to play for the Louisville Catbirds in the Continental Basketball Association instead. Thompson also played professionally in Europe before joining the Warriors.
