Dale Schlueter was born on June 12, 1945, in Tacoma, Washington. He grew up playing basketball and attended the University of Colorado, where he played college basketball for three seasons. Schlueter was drafted by the San Francisco Warriors (now the Golden State Warriors) in the fourth round of the 1967 NBA Draft. He played for several teams throughout his NBA career, including the Warriors, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Seattle SuperSonics. Schlueter was known for his rebounding and toughness, and he was a valuable player on several playoff teams. He retired from the NBA in 1979 and later became a successful real estate developer.
