Ryan Bowen was born on November 20, 1975, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He grew up playing basketball and attended the University of Iowa, where he played college basketball for four seasons. Bowen went undrafted in the 1998 NBA Draft but was signed by the Denver Nuggets as a free agent. He played for several teams throughout his NBA career, including the Houston Rockets, the New Orleans Hornets, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Bowen was known for his hustle, defense, and energy off the bench, and he was a valuable role player on several playoff teams. He retired from the NBA in 2010 and later became a college basketball coach.
