Gerald Henderson was born on January 16, 1956, in Richmond, Virginia. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where he played college basketball for the Rams. Henderson was selected by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the 1978 NBA draft. He played for the Spurs for two seasons before being traded to the New York Knicks. Henderson also played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks during his NBA career. After retiring from basketball, Henderson became a basketball coach and currently serves as the director of player development for the Philadelphia 76ers.
