Phil Ford is a former professional basketball player who played in the NBA for the Kansas City Kings, New Jersey Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Houston Rockets. He was born on February 9, 1956, in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina, where he played college basketball. After college, Ford was selected by the Kings in the first round of the 1978 NBA draft. He played for the Kings for four seasons before being traded to the Nets in 1982. Ford also played for the Bucks and Rockets before retiring from professional basketball in 1985. Ford was known for his ball-handling and playmaking ability and was a one-time NBA All-Star. After retiring from professional basketball, Ford worked as a college basketball coach.
