Born on August 23, 1975, in Auckland, New Zealand, Marks began playing basketball at a young age and quickly became one of the best players in his country. He later played college basketball in the United States and was selected by the New York Knicks in the second round of the 1998 NBA draft. Marks played for several NBA teams over the course of his career, including the Miami Heat, the San Antonio Spurs, and the New Orleans Hornets. After retiring from basketball, Marks worked in various executive roles in the NBA before being named the general manager of the Brooklyn Nets in 2016. Under his leadership, the Nets have become one of the best teams in the league.
