Mike Higgins was a professional basketball player who played power forward for the Denver Nuggets during the 1989-90 NBA season. Born on July 7, 1966, in Staten Island, New York, Higgins attended St. Peter's Boys High School before moving on to play college basketball at the University of Bridgeport.After going undrafted in the 1988 NBA draft, Higgins signed as a free agent with the Detroit Pistons but was released before the start of the season. He then spent time playing overseas in Greece and Israel before returning to the United States to join the Nuggets in 1989. Higgins played in 46 games for the Nuggets during the 1989-90 season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. While he did not see a lot of playing time during his NBA career, Higgins was known for his work ethic and his positive attitude, and was a valued member of the Nuggets' roster. After his time with the Nuggets, Higgins returned to playing overseas, where he continued to play professionally for several more years. He also spent time coaching at the high school and college levels, including a stint as an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Bridgeport.
