Alex Blackwell was born on October 23, 1964, in New York City. He grew up playing basketball and attended Monmouth University, where he played college basketball for four seasons. Blackwell went undrafted in the 1987 NBA Draft but was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Lakers. He played for several teams throughout his NBA career, including the Lakers, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Golden State Warriors. Blackwell was known for his perimeter shooting and offensive versatility, and he was a valuable role player on several playoff teams. He retired from the NBA in 1992.
