Alex Hannum was a professional basketball player and coach who played in the NBA from 1949 to 1957. He was born on July 19, 1923, in Los Angeles, California, and passed away on January 18, 2002. Hannum played college basketball at the University of Southern California and was then drafted by the Rochester Royals in the third round of the 1949 NBA draft. He played as a small forward during his NBA career and had stints with the Rochester Royals, Milwaukee Hawks, Fort Wayne Pistons, and the Syracuse Nationals.
