*David Pope played for Sacramento Kings team in 1985
David Pope is a former professional basketball player who played in the NBA and overseas. A power forward/center who played for the Sacramento Kings, David Pope was a role player who provided energy and physicality off the bench. He was known for his rebounding and shot-blocking abilities, and was a solid defender. Pope was born in Norfolk, Virginia and played college basketball at Norfolk State University, where he was a dominant scorer and earned All-MEAC Conference honors. After college, Pope played professionally in Europe and Asia before signing with the Sacramento Kings in 1994. He played for the Kings and the Indiana Pacers during his NBA career, and also played in the CBA and ABA. Pope retired from playing in 2000.
