Gail Goodrich was born on April 23, 1943, in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played college basketball for the Bruins. Goodrich was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 1965 NBA draft. He played for the Lakers, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Jazz, and Los Angeles Clippers during his NBA career. Goodrich was known for his scoring ability, particularly his mid-range jump shot and his ability to drive to the basket. He was a five-time NBA All-Star and won an NBA championship with the Lakers in 1972. Goodrich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.
