Kermit Washington, who wore #42 for the Clippers, is a retired professional basketball player who played for several NBA teams during his career from 1973 to 1987. Washington was known for his physical style of play and was regarded as a tough enforcer on the court. He was an All-American player in college and was drafted fifth overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1973. Throughout his career, Washington played for several teams, including the Lakers, Celtics, Trail Blazers, and Clippers. However, he is perhaps best known for his infamous punch during a game in 1977, when he punched Rudy Tomjanovich, causing severe injuries that nearly ended Tomjanovich's career.
