Ricky Pierce is a retired professional basketball player who played in the NBA from 1982 to 1998. He was born on August 19, 1959, in Dallas, Texas. Pierce played college basketball at Rice University, where he was a standout player. He was then drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 1982 NBA draft. Pierce was a shooting guard/small forward during his career, known for his scoring ability and his three-point shooting. He played for several NBA teams during his career, including the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Charlotte Hornets, and Philadelphia 76ers. Pierce was a two-time NBA All-Star and won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award twice. After retiring from playing, Pierce worked as an assistant coach for several NBA teams, including the Seattle SuperSonics, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Clippers. He is considered one of the greatest sixth men in NBA history and was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
