Paul Thompson is a retired American professional basketball player who was born on December 12, 1956. He played collegiately at Tulane University, where he was a standout player, and was eventually drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the third round (57th overall) of the 1978 NBA Draft. Thompson played for the Spurs for two seasons before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in 1980. He played for the 76ers for one season before being waived by the team in 1981. After leaving the NBA, Thompson played overseas in Spain and Italy for several years. Thompson's NBA career stats include 58 games played, 2.4 points per game, and 1.4 rebounds per game. He is now retired from basketball and currently lives in his hometown of New Orleans.
