Dallas Mavericks Jerseys – Every Player, Every Era, Every Number

The Dallas Mavericks have been a member of the NBA since 1980, when the league awarded Dallas an expansion franchise. From their beginnings in the early 1980s to becoming one of the most recognizable teams in the NBA, the Mavericks have built a rich history filled with memorable players, dramatic playoff runs and unforgettable moments.

The Mavericks have won 1 NBA Championship. Their historic title came in 2011, when Dallas defeated the Miami Heat 4-2 in the NBA Finals. Led by Dirk Nowitzki, who was named Finals MVP, the Mavericks captured the first and only NBA championship in franchise history.

The 2011 championship team featured a veteran group that included Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler and Shawn Marion. But the history of the Mavericks stretches far beyond one championship team, with generations of players helping establish the identity of Dallas basketball.

Retired Numbers

The Dallas Mavericks have officially retired the jersey numbers of four players whose contributions left a permanent mark on the franchise:

  • #12 – Derek Harper
  • #15 – Brad Davis
  • #22 – Rolando Blackman
  • #41 – Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki, widely regarded as the greatest player in Mavericks history, spent his entire 21-year NBA career in Dallas. He led the franchise to its first NBA championship in 2011, won the NBA Finals MVP award, and retired as one of the greatest players in league history.

Earlier generations of Mavericks basketball were represented by Derek Harper, Brad Davis and Rolando Blackman, three players who helped establish Dallas as a competitive NBA franchise during its formative years. The Mavericks officially retired their numbers before adding Nowitzki's No. 41 in 2022.

The NBA's current Dallas Mavericks records also recognize other important players who became part of the franchise's history, including Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Michael Finley and many others. Players from every generation have contributed to the story of the Mavericks.

Every player has a story, and no player should ever be forgotten.
