Artis Gilmore, wearing #53 for the Boston Celtics, is a former NBA player who was born on September 21, 1949, in Chipley, Florida. He played college basketball at Jacksonville University before being selected by the Kentucky Colonels in the 1971 American Basketball Association (ABA) Draft. Gilmore played for several teams during his professional career, including the Colonels, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, and Boston Celtics. He was a dominant force in the ABA, earning five All-Star selections and leading the league in rebounding for four seasons. Gilmore was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.
