Scooter McCray played college basketball at the University of Louisville, where he was part of the 1980 NCAA Championship team. He was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 1983 NBA draft, but he never played for them. He played for the Washington Bullets, the Houston Rockets, and the Cleveland Cavaliers during his four-year NBA career from 1983 to 1987. After his NBA career, he played overseas for several years before retiring from professional basketball in 1993.
